Princess Chidema Nwanisobi

Hi!! My name is Princess Chidema Nwanisobi, and I am currently a second-year Political Science - Public Law student in Seventh College. This past summer, I had the opportunity to take part in the new Future InnovatorsGlobal Internship Program in London. I applied for this program because I wanted to live in one of the coolest cities in the world while also getting the experience of working abroad.

While I was working in Europe, I took full advantage of the opportunity to travel and explore other countries on weekends, including Greece, France, and Belgium. I got to meet so many locals and had some fun experiences. I made countless memories and amazing friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. Being abroad it taught me not only about different cultures and countries, but also a lot about myself. I was able to be myself in a new place, surrounded by new people, and free from any expectations. It gave me a strong sense of belonging and a newfound independence that has stayed with me to this day.

This experience also deepened my love for my future career. As a Political Science student, my goal is to pursue a career in law. This internship allowed me to explore whether that path still aligned with my passion and it absolutely does. The program advisors work closely with students to find internships that align with their specific interests. My advisor, Leah, matched me with an incredible company called Powell Spencer & Partners. They are a solicitors firm that focuses on Criminal, Family, and Immigration Law. The team was incredibly kind, supportive, and welcoming. During my time there, I had the opportunity to meet with barristers, attend court hearings, and even visit a jail. I gained so much insight into the UK legal system and developed a growing interest in Family Law. After attending court and meeting clients, I realized just how important this work is. Making sure that children are placed in the right care for their success is deeply meaningful, and it’s something I hope to be a part of one day. This opportunity was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself, and I’m beyond grateful I had the chance to experience it. I hope you get the opportunity to do so too!
