Jenny Garza for details.
UCSD Global Seminars will be offered for summer session one 2008. These are five week long study abroad experiences led by a UCSD professor. Students will enroll in two courses for a total of eight UCSD units. Class sizes will be between 15-30 students, so there will be excellent opportunities for interaction with some of the best faculty at UCSD. All courses will be taught in English, but several programs will have some very basic, elementary language instruction to help you navigate the local community.
For summer 2008, we anticipate having programs in the following countries:
Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Peru, and Spain. Please
see the links below for more information about each program.
Do not sign-up for the Global Seminar program unless you definitely intend to participate. If you drop after the deadline, you will be charged the full fees according the drop and refund policy as listed on the Global Seminar web site.
Applications will be due on February 15, 2008 along with a $250 deposit. We anticipate that the total cost for the program will be approximately $5,000-8,000 depending on the program. This includes fees for 8 UCSD units, air fare, housing, some meals, international health insurance, local transportation, as well as passes for course related sites and excursions. All forms of financial aid, including federal, state, and UCSD aid will apply. The International Center also offers scholarships for study abroad.
To learn more, attend a First Step meeting at the Programs Abroad Office and
if possible a program specific information session conducted by the
professor who will lead the global seminar. After attending a First Step
meeting, you must fill out an interest profile and you may make an advising appointment with Jenny Garza.
