Welcome to the UC San Diego International Student / International Scholar Offices (ISO / ISO)

The International Student Office and International Scholar Office at UC San Diego assists more than 4,000 international students and international scholars with immigration regulations and documents, hospitality programs, English language help, and many on-going informational and cultural programs.


NEW LOCATION

The International Student Office and International Scholar Office has moved to a new location which was formerly occupied by the International Cooperative Nursery School (ICNS)--still part of the International Center complex. Signs have been posted to show where we are located. If you have any problems finding our new location, please call 858-534-3730 for directions.

    •   Important Announcement:

    Effective September 1, 2009, most University of California employees, will be required to take between one and two unpaid days off each month (furloughs) in order to offset the State of California budget crisis. For students, scholars, and campus departments, this may result in longer advising wait times, longer processing times, or reduction in programs. However, the International Center will strive to meet your needs, maintain a high-level of service, and continue the high-quality international programs for our community.


        During the academic year, our offices will make every effort to ensure the following:
      For Students:
  • Advisor Appointment Wait Times: 3-5 business days
  • Practical Training/Academic Training/Employment Authorization Processing Time: 10 business days
  • Travel Signatures Processing Time: 2 business days
  • Student Letter Requests Processing Time: 5 business days


    •   For Scholars:
  • DS-2019 Request processing time: 15 business days
  • DS-2019 travel signature processing time: 1-2 business days
  • H-1B Request processing time: 45 business days
  • No walk-in advising – only by appointment

      Office Hours:
    Due to the upcoming New International Student Orientation, advising hours during the month of September will be limited, beginning September 8th through September 25th.
      
    Scholar Advising Hours:
  • Monday - Friday, 9 am to 4 pm

    Student Advising Hours:
    Appointments: Available Mondays and Fridays ONLY
      Monday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
      Friday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
       
    Walk-in advising: No Wednesday walk-in advising hours on September 9 and September 16
      Limited walk-in advising available on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

     

    Our normal advising hours will resume on Monday, September 28. For urgent issues, please contact the International Center
